Still new to this sub and eating new brands/kinds. At my local world market; what would y’all suggest/stay away from?

I did not enjoy the Pepus large size mussels. They seemed unnaturally big (bigger than $$$ brands) and a few had sketchy innards. Not tried the small ones but they are probably a better bet.

Get that 3 pack for $18.99, absolute banger. I get it every time I go to World Market. The same brand has a Fleur de Sal flavor or something like that, it’s the light blue tin. That one is realllllllly good.

Nuri, spiced in tomato sauce is also absolutely fire. Maybe two of those.

I’d recommend starting there. It’d probs cost around $40ish. Worth it, imo.

Hard to go wrong, pretty much everything there is decent or excellent. My personal preference is nuri and matiz. Skip the fishwife sardines, they’re about the same as the others but more money. Some of the fishwife flavored stuff is fun to try though

I’d say the RugenFisch fried herring, I had high hopes and it was disappointing IMO. Their other offerings are good.

I’d start with Nuri, I can’t tell if they have the spiced in olive oil, which is the best in my opinion, but in tomato sauce is good too. And the Fishwife smoked salmon or trout.

  6. Pretty much all of that is good. Ortiz are my favorite plain sardines of all time.

    wow what a great selection!
that top row of bela’s- that brand used to be my normal day to day tin, local shop had those for like $3. the price there is a lot higher, so that might be a different brand with a similar label, it’s a little hard to see. Anyway, if those aren’t bela, ignore me lol.
Matiz is great. Nuri is wonderful. Ortiz does good tuna. For fishwife, I think their sardines are too expensive and no better than, like, a tin of bela’s for $3, but OH MY GOD I love fishwife’s smoked trout and mackerel. looks like they have both there. not cheap, but man that mackerel is good.
looking at the prices too . . . I’d probably go for the Nuri’s for $5, that’s a good deal.

I would kill to have a local selection like that!!

All those fishwife tins are phenomenal, definitely over priced, but some of the best tasting tins I’ve ever opened
