Petite Violette is celebrating its 50th anniversary during the month of August. Family owned and operated, the French restaurant is known for classic dishes like Boeuf Bourguignon, Bouchée à la Reine, and Vichyssoise.
The Brookhaven Chamber of Commerce is holding a ribbon cutting with brothers and co-owners Michael and Anthony Gropp at Petite Violette on Tuesday, Aug. 20.
This month, Petite Violette has marked the anniversary with wine tastings, cooking demonstrations, discounts, trivia, live music, and cheeky Brookhaven-themed murder mystery dinners.
In 1974, the Gropps’ father, Chef Wolfgang Gropp, who trained under renowned chefs in Europe and Canada. Chef Gropp brought his passion for the culinary arts to Atlanta with his wife, Ilse, and her brother, Helmut Bittl. They opened a restaurant called Petite Auberge at Toco Hill shopping center.
In 2016, Petite Auberge was displaced after 42 years due to the sale of the shopping center. After merging with nearby Violette on Clairmont Road in Brookhaven, voila! The restaurant became Petite Violette.
