The last of my 2022 futures order came today, and I told local wine guy I'm out of the futures game for now. The thought of my bottles being taxed at some insane amount at the whims of the orange idiot and his cast of clowns is too much risk.
Are you holding off on futures or continuing to buy them?

I spoke with the shipping manager at a large online wine company today. She told me anything not already in the US will be sitting in a UK warehouse till tariffs are “resolved”.
Well since smuggling is coming back I’m going to buy a wooden box that merely says GPL for $1200 and the person I bought it from will give me 12 bottles for free
I have bottles just sitting in the UK until this all gets sorted out.
I only import for personal consumption but honestly, I’m not too worried. There has already been talks of eliminating the tariffs with the EU. It’s all negotiating tactics and I suspect it’ll sort itself out sooner than later.
Do I feel the same way about the tariffs on China? No…
Cheers in Canadian, my french wines get no tariffs.
Lol i couldn’t afford futures before this.
I would suggest you hold off, and that suggestion is worth what you pay for it. Keeping it in a warehouse in the UK is a solution but if this continues for more than a couple months, idk what you would do about storage fees
For those with unfulfilled 22 futures orders, are you trying to cancel them or wait it out?
*Label and box reads “POMME ROLL”*
Yeah it’s uhhhh…grown in Paso Robles yeah…
I currently have around $12k of unshipped EU based direct import orders. Thankfully the importer is not planning to have them shipped until the tariffs are resolved. It’s a bunch of Burgundy, Bordeaux, and Champagne so if it sits in someone else’s climate controlled warehouse for a while it’ll be ok. I just don’t want to pay another 30% on top of what I’ve already paid.
It’s funny how you all think this is going to magically resolve itself, even waiting with your shipments for it.
You’ll have 3.5 more years of this idiot, and assuming that free, fair, happy, and open elections will be organized in which everyone is going to vote Democrats end of 2028 is incredibly naive. Either way, best case scenario is that tariffs will be gone in 4 years from now – which is highly questionable.
I would get used to the new situation. Pay a shitload for your wine, or (that’s what I would do) get tf out of there. The chances of it getting worse are much higher than it getting better.
If you look at it from the sunny side: this is what the majority wanted in your country. And now the orange dictator delivers. He’s even giving military parades for his birthday. It doesn’t get more democratic than this.
