For me it’s between Wendy’s, whataburger, and Culver’s.

NYC area the best has to be Five Guys
ISpyM8
Five Guys is waaaay too expensive to be considered fast food. I’m not spending $20 on a burger.

OBSChevyDude
Not really “fast” food. But Fosters Freeze.
ryemmsf
Not sure if it qualifies because it doesn’t have a drive-thru, but Fatburger is far and away my favorite chain burger.

We need to get a few things clear first. There are local “fast food” places across the country, I have one called Char Burger near me that’s really solid (albeit a bit expensive), but I don’t think that should count because it’s not a widely available experience.
Likewise I really enjoyed Cookout and In-N-Out when visiting areas that had them, and they are widely available within those regions but do we count them?
Lastly do we count fast-casual places like Red Robin or Shake Shack? Both of these are pretty widely available to my knowledge and are decent places to get a burger.
In summary, to answer your question, the best fast food burger is from Burger King.
CineFunk
Culver’s destroys all.

Nothing is really even close IMO
SlowShuGo
In & Out people just don’t know … Culver’s or 5 Guys, all day!
BookOf_Eli
Just fast food chains and no local places or higher scale places like 5guys/SS
That everyone can get? Wendy’s
Overall? IMO it’s Culver’s.
Then places like in n out and Freddie’s are a little bit below that but top in the regions they’re available.
ThePizzaNoid
Wendy’s for sure for national chain burger. Five Guys is great too if you got the extra money to spend but Wendy’s is definitely the better bang for your buck burger.
Own_Win_6762
Culver’s, specifically the mushroom Swiss butter burger double.
Shake shack menu and quality is very similar but with a huge price bump.
