Wine-pairing dinners continue to grow in popularity on the island, and at Kebo Spanish Restaurant, owner José Castellanos and his team continue to offer guests a chance to enjoy multi-course meals paired with carefully selected, top-tier wines.
This week, Kebo invites patrons on a journey to Portugal’s famed Douro Valley, home to a dynasty of Port wine producers: the Van Zellers family. With a winemaking legacy that dates to 1620, the Van Zellers were originally merchants from the Netherlands who, as Catholics, found refuge in Portugal and settled in Oporto. By 1811, Van Zellers & Co., had become one of the region’s top Port wine exporters, shipping over 1,000 pipes annually.
At 7:30 p.m, on April 10., Francisca Van Zellers, daughter of the winery’s current owner, will host a special evening at Kebo, sharing the family’s rich history and how they’re blending tradition with innovation in Port wine production. Attendees will learn about rare vintages like the Noval Nacional Vintage Port 1931 and sample a range of styles including aged Tawnies.
The six-course wine dinner is $99 per person and includes a tasting of six Portuguese wines, featuring a 10-year-old Port paired with six specially curated dishes designed to enhance each pour.
If you go, Kebo Restaurant is located in the Key Colony Plaza, located at 200 Crandon Blvd. on Key Biscayne. A limited number of slots are still available. For reservations, call (305) 365-1244.
