Hi! First time buying a 1/4 cow. Is this a good deal? Are these good cuts? We are implementing more beef into our diet now that we make more money and want to be smart about our purchases.

Any recommendations?

No burger? Surprised to see sales tax, too, but your state might have its own rules.

    Edit to change:

Couldn’t get the numbers to jive and finally did:

Guess they baked in kill and cut/wrap into the 4.99/lb price (thought it was ind ie individual not incl as in included)Not bad at all then to be honest. I thought they were separate line items.

    Original comment:

USDA call outs for choice beef on the rail at commercial packers today was $3.22/lb, so paying a premium over market for grass fed of almost $1.80/lb. Cut and wrap ain’t bad, but if each quarter is being charged $150 for a kill fee that’s almost robbery in my area.

Wow, I lived in Cali back in 79 and bought a half of cow for only 70.00 bucks lasted like 2 months

4.99 a pound in this market is great… just hope it was butchered well!

What a weird way to sell a quarter. I’m not sure how you keep track of it while providing cuts off the entire animal. Seems just messy internally and more confusing for the customer. Either way, a final price of six dollars a pound is still a pretty good deal as long as the beef was quality
