I have the Pyrex version and I love it. So easy to clean.

Erlenmeyer flasks make great decanters, since they sell brushes for washing them!

The 2 L size is perfect for a 750 mL bottle.

I do the same thing, but I also use an aerator when I pour it into the Erlenmeyer flask for some added oxygen.

I have been using the 2L flasks for several years now. They are much better than some of the Riedel ones that don’t have any more wine surface area and are a complete bitch to pour from.

And when you don’t have anything except the bottle just open it and shake it until it tastes right!

I’ve used Pyrex Erlenmeyer flasks since reading an article by Eric Asimov about a decade ago. They really are perfect. The chemistry grade glass is incredibly durable, the shape is functional and easy to clean, the graduations on the side tell you exactly how much wine you have retained following a decant to separate sediment. I’ve had snobby types (and weirdly enough often people who don’t know jack about wine but have an idea that decanters should all have these ridiculous ornamental shapes) question me or just scoff at them over the years, but they can all get bent. I spent like thirty bucks and have something better than their $100+ crystal avant bullshit.

This is great. I’ve been wondering what to do with all the glass ever since I got out of the Crank business.

BTW, does anyone want to buy a couple 55-gallon drums of methylamine?
