New AustralianSupermarket wine aisles are getting a vibrant update this springtime with the arrival of a number of standout Australian wines which capture the spirit of Australia and deliver it straight to UK consumers.

New at Waitrose:

Tread Softly Rosé by Fourth Wave Wine

Tread Softly is a range of moderate alcohol, modern wines that are lighter on the environment and on the palate.

Ideal for the brighter evenings and spring climate, while being a lower percentage volume, the Tread Softly Rose, now available at Waitrose, is fast becoming a fan’s favourite. With one reviewer commenting: “Whispering Angel is one of my favourites, but Tread Softly is giving it run for its money. It’s also slightly lower in alcohol which makes it perfect for warm days.”

Certified by Sustainable Winegrowing Australia, Tread Softly has partnered with Carbon Neutral to reduce its carbon footprint through planting an Australian native tree for every six bottles sold.

Available to buy now from Waitrose priced at £8.

New at Sainsbury’s:

The Elephant in The Room Palatial Pinot Noir is described by the retailer as being ‘big on velvetiness and attitude’, scoring a full 10 for flavour.

It is available to buy now, currently priced at £10.25 (£8.25 with Nectar).

Meanwhile, Little Giant, well-recognised on supermarket shelves for its iconic stumpy short bottle (a nod to the native Aussie wombat) is launching a full flavoured Barossa Shiraz which according to Sainsbury’s is small but mighty – ‘powerful, full-bodied, with black fruits, peppery spices and dark chocolate’.
