New to this subreddit and I just wanted to share my new grill that I worked hard to design and I finally have one at home! I'm a product engineer for all the FireMagic and American Outdoor Grills at RH Peterson. I designed the new cart and "under glass" face for our newish line of Echelon grills. This unit is the new E790 portable with infrared back burner and Magic View window.
Since I started working here, I've been grilling on a little Charbroil grill that's around 10 years old lol. My dad bought it back then to take camping and it was easy to load in a toy hauler. This unit on the other hand, is not easy to take camping lol. I'm so stoked to grill this weekend on it and also learn a lot of helpful tips and insight into how to improve my designs and our products!

Love the window on the lid! Never seen this before. Good looking grill, boss!

I worked at a place that sold Firemagic grills and carts. I had the pleasure of assembling one for the new Aurora and the pizza oven. Very logically done, good job.
Post a pic in a year so we can see how you are keeping up with the window cleaning!
That’s one heck of an upgrade! Fire Magic is top tier. That’s like going from walking to traveling by spaceship! Enjoy!
That looks amazing
That is too pretty to cook on.
I want it.
Nice man, very cool
I have a Monument grill with the glass lid. I can’t keep it clean unless I use oven spray, let it sit for 10 minutes, then the grease easily comes off with a razor blade.
I accidentally set a grease fire and after cleaned up the window without much of a problem.
I like the light inside though. So much easier to see through with that.
Grilling in the year 3069. Have mercy
That’s awesome the light and window should be on every grill
Where the coals go or is it an oven?
How are u a grill engineer without the latest and greatest before this one 😅 well congrats, I think you earned this.
Looks nice. What does that retail for?
That bad boy looks incredible. Congrats!
A grill engineer? You mean my dream job.
She’s a beaut, Clark!
I’m curious how that glass will hold up, it’s a pita keeping it clean on my wood stove.
Grill engineer that designs a grill with a glass window, only owned a cheap charbroil grill and doesnt grill much. You sound completely under qualified for whatever position you have and i question the collective mental capacity of the company you work for.
Very nice! I’m in the market for a new grill. I’m looking at a Napoleon, but I’m going to have to give Fire Magic a look now too.
That grille looks awesome! Now I want one
Is this an ad?
It’s so pretty 🥺
Wow there are a lot of mixed responses on here.
I just want to say that the grill looks really cool, and it’s awesome that you are proud of what you help built! There is nothing cooler than being able to use what you help build. I’m excited for you!😎
I do grill a lot, was a previous line cook for 5 years, and I would feel as though I would be doing you a disservice if I wasn’t honest about the grill.
For me grilling is a connection I have to every current and ancient society. It’s something humans have done since the beginning of time. Man make fire and then man cook meat. It seems incredibly simple at its core, but there are so many different ways to grill that yield different results.
Charcoal is my favorite way to grill, and the hardest way to grill in my opinion. This is because you have to control heat temperature, which takes quite a bit of experience. It’s also a lot more time consuming to start the charcoal vs being able to just turn on the grill. However the flavor and heat you can get from charcoal is unmatched. Also there is something special about grilling that way knowing it’s been done this way for thousands of years.
Grill review:
I needed to give you the preface before I could write this review. The grill looks cool and seems like something that would be a joy to cook with! However I looked up a price online and HOLY SHIT $10,000 is the most expensive grill I’ve ever seen. This price does explain the grill a bit more though. It seems like it would be market to very high end clientele, who could pay that price and just think that’s what a really nice grill costs. However, I’m sure a good chef would be able to produce the same results on a $1,200 grill, if not cheaper.
Value: 1/10
As I stated before the grill looks beautiful. However there are some questionable design features.
1) That grease tray is too small. If you were to grill something large like a rib roast, that grease tray would overflow, and when you take it out, and the extra grease would just shoot out of the trap hole.
2) The infrared back burner is only useful for rotisserie. Which is already such a rarely used feature. The problem I have with the rotisserie is that rotisserie chickens are available almost everywhere already cooked for like $7. So it’s something I wouldn’t make on my own very often. If there was a way to place the infrared burner facing down, and have some sort of salamander feature, now that would be way more practical!
I do love the cabinets and think they are one of the best features of the grill!
Design: 8/10
I obviously haven’t been able to try out the grill myself, but with the info I could gather it does sound like it would perform great!
Performance: 9/10
Overall: 8/10
One last comment is I think it’s cool that you want to get more into grilling yourself, and now you’ve got a King’s grill to do so! If you want any ideas or help grilling feel free to message me! Grill on brother! 😎
That’s a 10000 grill. Pretty nice little fringe benefit
Clean af!
Hope it doesn’t shatter cooking on a cold day. Throw some cold rain in .
Is that an electric grill?
