Aldi has introduced its own ultra-realistic fruit desserts, inspired by renowned French pastry chef Cédric Grolet and his viral hyper-realistic creations.

Cédric’s desserts have become a viral sensation on TikTok over the past few weeks, with hundreds of people eager to try his accurately crafted pastries that perfectly mimic real fruit.

The chef’s creations include lemons, oranges and strawberries and inside is filled with the real fruit.

However, indulging in one of Cédric’s sweet treats will set you back £18 at one of his boutiques in London or Paris.

Aldi has created £2.99 ‘dupes’ for shoppers to enjoy a fancy dessert without the hefty price tag.

Aldi’s own fruit pastries – lemon and raspberry – are part of their specially selected range. The products are branded as Belgian chocolate ganache and are priced at £2.99 for a pack of two 40g desserts.

The lemon dessert is described by the store as: “Belgian White Chocolate Ganache With Meringue Pieces And A Lemon Filling Encased In A Yellow Coloured Belgian White Chocolate Shell.”

Similarly the raspberry version is described as the same apart from having a raspberry filling and pink colouring.

They are available to buy in all Aldi stores now.

Shoppers have taken to social media to discuss the Aldi version of the viral sweet treat.

One TikTok user tried the dessert and gave her review of them, having mixed feelings about the look and taste of the hyper-realistic desert.

One user took to the comments to show her astonishment that the treats were actually a ‘dupe’ of something, writing: ” Ooo, I got these and didn’t realise they were a dupe of anything! Now I’ve found his TikTok and I’m obsessed already.”

Another user was confused by the hyper-realistic treat, stating: “I thought it was soap,” alongside multiple laughing faces.

While another person still felt Aldi’s version was too expensive, expressing: “I felt ripped off by the Aldi ones. I don’t know what emotions I would have with the more expensive ones.”

Someone was quick to point out that the dessert wasn’t an accurate dupe, as they wrote: “I think the real ones are like cakes though not like chocolate.”
