I went here back in November for a family friends birthday and it was all around excellent.
The egg toast, an apparent staple of the fine dining scene in NYC was especially fun for me. I had a Ratatouille moment when I tasted it because it was the exact same flavor as my dads grilled cheese. Totally caught me off guard and made already incredible dish take on a new perspective. The presentation, mix of textures, and the cheese-like sous vide egg yolk make it as special as you could expect.
The amuse-bouche was a fun trio of savory bites. The fish was especially delicious and the pastry with the edible flower closest to the camera was a great journey texturally and also very tasty. The broth was a little heavy and a bit too sweet for me but for the first few sips it was very enjoyable.
The yellowfin tuna was a really intense unique flavor compared to other yellowfin tunas I’ve had and the sauce they matched it with completed it beautifully.
The celeriac dish I substituted in was fine but nothing special and a bit too filling for a 6 course meal.
The filet mignon for the main meat dish was very classic and incredibly juicy and the sauces on the plate also enhanced it very nicely. The vegetable bean and nut mound was also very nice but I feel like something is missing in the presentation for this.
Speaking of presentation, the chocolate cake is gorgeously plated and provides a nice mix of different bites with changing flavors and textures as you go across the semi-circle. One of my favorite dessert dishes I’ve had.
There’s a tiny dessert cart that comes around as well with lots of fun little bites that break down the overall very corporate atmosphere of the Trump Hotel mainstay. The macarons as well were delightful; The marshmallow, and champagne gummy bears were both very light and tasty and an excellent companion for a slightly drunk end of meal experience.
