I wanted it more red and it looks like it has a bit of a grey band, but it tasted great!

Perfect 👍🏻 great job, well, that’s if they’re seasoned enough of course

In my opinion that’s extremely impressive, you should be proud of that steak. It took me years to get steaks down where I prefer mine over most restaurants. Something I recently learned that’s been a life changer is dry brining the steak for a day or two. Salt it generously, place on a wire rack and rest in the fridge overnight. The crust always comes out insanely nice, your crust also looks amazing. Keep up the good work(:

I’m just wondering who are these people who never made steak until 2025? Were they born in 2007?

Oh no! You did it all wrong! Next time invite me over so I can guide you on how to make it properly. So, when’s the next steak dinner?

As a former chef, you did excellent for your first time! If you like the med rare, I do mine in a sous vide, seasoned and vacuum sealed. 133 for about 1-1.5 hours depending on thickness, gently pat it dry, then cast iron smoking hot, a drizzle of oil so it doesn’t stick and let it rip. You get a great crust and med rare throughout with no gray strip. You did a great job, and those potatoes look amazing.

Nice. Make sure you let the steak rest covered for about 10 minutes before slicing to avoid drying out the meat.

Dang that’s great for a first attempt , i prefer it to be more rare

Looks great! I don’t really drink much and grew up with milk during dinner mostly, then as I grew up would just have a soda pop or other. But there’s truly nothing quite like an ice cold beer before sitting down to eat. Even if everything is super delicious already, a beer just multiplies it so much more. Beer is great.
