  2. Looks SO good John! Brings me back to my childhood, and even my kids are pineapple lovers as well now. So I may try out this cake this weekend.
    Thanks John πŸπŸ™πŸ

  3. Hello again Mr. Kirkwood, another fantastic dessert, Thank you so much Sir. my wife and I enjoy your videos so much we always look forward to them, God Bless Sir.

  4. I remember making this 30 years ago in college, I seem to remember a quirk about the name, something to do with apples?

  5. My mother has made this for years. Only she also adds Maraschino cherries with the pineapple. Always a family favorite during family dinners.

  6. just wondering why you didnt add the pineappe to the hot pan to caramalise before letting it cool to add the cake mix.

  7. This recipe is absolutely delicious and soooooo easy. No sunken middle, no baking powder flavor and light as air. Mr Kirkwood, your recipes are all no-nonsense and easy to execute. Thank you!

    Lainee

  8. Looks scrumptious John, at school in the 70’s we had to put glazed cherries in the middle of the Pineapple rings. πŸ˜… yours looks much better. 🫢🏻

  9. I do my upside down cake using corn bread. For a breakfast/brunch I put meat under, above (?) what ever, the fruit layer. Just make sure the meat (sausage, ham, bacon) is cut up fine or it will pull out and make a mess. Found that out the hard way. Also try it with bananas.

  10. SOMETHING NOT MENTIONED IN THE VIDEO…….. Make sure your pineapple rings are in Pineapple Juice NOT Syrup x

  11. Im making this for my family! Thank you for sharing!
Just a heads up, the recipe link in the description is broken now. I found it by searching on the website

  12. John, I've never made an upsidedown pinapple cake successfully yet. The middle pineapple ring always sinks slightly. Never stays like your photo. Any thoughts. It's not life-threatening as the cake tastes wonderful, just puzzling. Alan

  13. I’m siting having your crumpets watching this video. So happy as later this week book club ladies getting together. Guess what treat they will be having 😊

  14. Hi John , a little off topic but could you do a video on knives , best type and the proper way to keep them sharp and carve with them.

  15. Cheers John. I have a mate who was a former chef in the 70's and while I am certain he has a version, I will recommend this. I hope you and all dear to you have a great Easter and Thanks.
