Ive been looking at buying a rectec flagship 1100 while it's on sale, but then I just saw this at home depot. Is it worth it?

  1. That’s a really solid deal. And I’m depressed that I NEVER see deals like this at my local HD. 😞

  2. It is a hell of a deal, you should broadly compare features and decide if it makes sense for you. “They “ say Rectwc is a better value, but when you have equal costs I am a Traeger fan

I mean, it’s going to be a VERY nice experience. So is it worth it to you? It’s not to me, but that’s me. I’m something of a cheapskate.

I’ll buy it right now if you don’t…

I paid around $1800 for mine (new) about a year ago, and that’s without the front shelf, storage containers or any accessories to hang/store things, and also the cover, plus pellets…..so it was around $3k to get up-and -running.
Looks like a deal to me!

Traeger quality has gone down over the last few years, I’d go rec or grilla and I believe grilla has a 40% off sale right now

  7. JoraStarkiller

Nope, Grilla makes a pellet smoker that is superior to Traeger in every way and it cost less.

I have a Ironwood that I bought 2-3 years ago for like 1400. I absolutely love it. I’d say go for it.

  9. FauciFloydLGBTQ

Hell of a deal mate. I’d probably buy it

Have you checked craigslist or offerup first?

I had that grill. I bought it at Costco for about $850 about 5 years ago. I took it back.

I do not like pellet smokers because almomst all pellets are swdust from a wordworking out let. It’s regular lumber with flavor added to it.

I did not think the meat had any smoke flavor after cooking it. Buying the pellets was a hassle, but they seem to be a little more available now. You can order pellets oin Amazon for a good price that are actually dust from the actual type of wooed, Cheery, or Apple, Hickory, whatever you cook with. However it was a hassle to get them.

The thing also went through a lot of pellets.

    The good parts:

    * Easy to use
    * Care free smoking- set it and forget it
    * Cooks the meat really good, even, not burnt, real good cooking
    * It is big and has a lot of room.
    * Easy to cook on becausde it’s one shelf

    The bad parts:

    * Flavorless meat
    * Compressed sawdust instead of chunks of wood
    * Large bagf of sawdust sitting everywhere for future cooks
    * Takes up a lot of room compared to smaller or vertical snokers
    * pellets are expensive and it goes through a lot

Those are my thoughts and experiences with this smoker. I hope you are happy with whatever you get.

I’d get a Masterbuilt XT. It’s slightly more and gravity smokers>pellet. The first Gen Masterbuilt gravity smokers had their issues but for the most part the XT seems to have resolved them.

Thats an insane deal. Yes, get it. Not sure why there’s so much hate for Traeger. Myself and all my friends love ours.

  14. I have multiple friends with traegars. One barely touches it and the other uses his regularly. My 50$ Facebook marketplace Weber kettle turns out better smoked meats than both. Just get a Weber kettle and learn how it works.

  15. dondeeseltacoshack

That’s an amazing deal. People saying one brand of smoker is absolute garbage and the one they have is the only one worth buying are being a bit dramatic. I have a traeger that I love. I have friends with other brands that they love. It’s half retail man…hard to beat that.

A lot of traeger hate but I’ve had my ironwood for 3-4 years and have made some great BBQ. Build quality could be better but it’s been great for me

  17. fueled_by_caffeine

I’ve had nothing but issues with my overpriced traeger and their support is absolutely garbage.

I wouldn’t do it again given the choice

  18. Mixedlane

I maintain that PitBoss is the way to go. Really good quality and always a fraction of the price.

  19. PutinBoomedMe

Trager is the Yeti of grills. Obnoxiously overpriced compared to competitors with similar features

  20. chocothrower

Try and find something second hand unless you’ve been smoking for a while and want something nice. I found a $800 pit boss in near perfect condition for $250 and a Kamado Joe for 50 bucks. There are deals out there for sure

  21. EngineerDirector

I’d take a Weber kettle and $800 worth of meat.

  22. Ornery_Breakfast2878

My door came a little bent so I added an extra gasket to keep in the smoke and also the wheel pops off when I try wheeling it across my patio. Really just minor annoyances. Like I said the BBQ I have made is great and I love the app.

I have one and really like it. I’ve had GMG, pitboss, Recteq, Yoder, and now the ironwood xl. I use to be the person to shit all over traeger. But I never actually owned one. Would I buy their cheaper pellet grills? No probably not. But got the xl for a killer price and really like it. It’s comparable to the flagship I had. But I like the cook chamber and the double wall insulation in it better than the others.
