This is just from the last three bags that I’ve opened. I always find little/medium rocks and I just throw them in the backyard, but after I found half of a brick I decided to start collecting. I grill two or three times a week and go through Jealous Devil and Cowboy relatively quickly. I never find anything in bags of Cowboy. Just wondering won’t stop me from buying.

I use JD all the time and have never seen that! That’s really weird. I have gotten chunks perfectly round (like a tree trunk) which are nice for slow and low cooks, but never rocks. Are those rocks from hell? 😈 🤣
Honestly, I’ve found them in the bags also. Pisses me off that they sell the bag by weight, and they add shit like this in the bags
None so far in the JD bags I’ve used, both 15 and 20lb.
Usually read that Royal Oak is the one with trash.

Odd, funny enough I NEVER had this problem with JD, but did all the time with Cowboy lol. That’s why I switched only problem I had with JD is that sometimes the blocks are so huge I gotta dig to find small ones to start the fires better haha, or use a hatchet to chop em. Good for long low smokes for sure though.
I had one small rock out of the 30+ bags I’ve purchased. And I only noticed that rock because it was still in the basket after a high temp cook.
I’ve gotten the rocks and parts of bricks before… never a big piece like you’ve got.
I’ve never seen this with JD, but if you think about how the charcoal is produced, it’s a wonder we don’t see more of this.
Never had that problem over years of use.
I’d send to customer support- I’d wager they give you a free bag.

I’ve had this in all the brands I’ve tried, and that is a lot of brands. I’ve switched to Kingsford Hardwood briquettes for quality control. My last straw was a large ball of melted plastic material in a bag. A brick or rock is one thing, but petrochemicals are another.
You aren’t alone, I had half of a brick in my last bag.

This has to be over several bags… which still isn’t good, worse than cowboy, but if I got this in one I’m for sure getting my money back.
I’ve seen rocks, bricks, asphalt and multiple brands. I think it’s just something that is inevitable sadly.
