That’s an interesting tip. Did they explain why they were tipping with it?

No, but I have a regular who regularly tips us with $2 bills. I think some older customers are fascinated by rare/antique bits of currency, and they share it with us cause they like us. I think of it as a love language haha.

Nah, but that’s dope. I got tipped with an original painting a while back because the customer knows i collect art. It’s hanging on my wall.

I haven’t gotten sealed coins but we do have a regular who gives interesting coins to us when he has them. I think the last time he did it he gave one of us a Bolivian coin?
GreyOps
My money is on them being stolen.

try r/coins if you’re curious! they can tell you more about them and help you sell if you’re interested
Nah that rules. this was my weirdest tip ever. I said “I don’t have an AR” and the guy said “yet” and walked away. Cool 👍

Never sealed coins but someone once tipped me a $1bn Zimbabwean note which was kinda funny because it would’ve cost me money to get it changed into usd

I got tipped with someone’s backyard eggs, and another time I got tipped with a bomb ass cannoli. It was awesome.

These sorts of coins can be worth up to around $50~ and if they’re special a lot more.

I have a 2 or 3 pound container of all the misc coins I got over 6 years. Random currency from around the world, to wheat pennies, proper silver dollars, half dollars, loonies, etc.

My weirdest tip was from a customer that NEVER tips and he decided one day to give me and the other barista a folded $100 bill each. We opened them to see Trump’s face instead of good old Ben Franklin.

there’s a guy at my coffee shop who is a geologist and he tips everyone in rocks and crystals and will tell you the whole history behind each rock. i love him

Those aren’t just sealed, they’re graded which typically provides a much higher value for the coin. The one in the right looks like a mint proof. The one on the left is also from an uncirculated mint set. Very pretty.
Value right now is probably $5-15 per coin. If you hold onto them they may increase in value later. They aren’t particularly rare but maybe you have a new hobby now.

I work in a coffeeshop close to Dixie highway and we serve many flamboyant customers. One guy, who is a multi million dollar CEO and retired bodybuilder (major car accident), always tips golden corral coupons.

no, but i have one regular that leaves a scratch off in the tip jar. last time, i won $20 😎

I got tipped with weed once, it was cool. I don’t smoke so I gave it to my co worker
EducationalLet5714
Yes! This happened to me as a bartender
diyjunkiehq
would it be possible that the customer had no other money? That was the last change he/she had.
