JOHNSON CITY, N.Y. (WBNG) — With recipes from Germany, Pakistan, Italy, the Philippines, and more, “Foodies” is a unique new restaurant.
Foodies, located at 214 Reynolds Rd. in Johnson City, NY, is owned by Hassan Wraich. Wraich grew up in Germany, while his wife is from Pakistan. After living all over Europe and finally moving to Vestal, NY, two years ago, Wraich wanted to share his passion for food with the community.
Wraich said when he moved here, he saw the lack of German food in the surrounding area and knew he had to cook something up. He said he loves to serve others the food he likes.
“There is nothing from cheap, everything is made from scratch,” said Wraich. “Whatever I feel I would like to eat, I would like to serve to others.”
Being from Europe, Wraich also wanted to bring the culture with him. Therefore, he said tips are not necessary at his restaurant. He said he is also working on a kids’ corner so children can play while the parents enjoy their meal.
“The community is very, very helpful. I would even say I feel more at home here than where I grew up,” exclaimed Wraich. “That is the reason [why] I thought about giving something good back to the community. My talent to eat and to feed”
Foodies does not have an opening date yet, but Wraich said it will hopefully be within the next few days.
