ShoMon Kappo Sushi’s five chefs create culinary masterpieces. #k5evening
SEATTLE — At ShoMon Kappo Sushi, a new Japanese restaurant in Seattle, there are only two seatings per night — and five Michelin-trained master chefs prepare your food. It all adds up to a one-of-a kind culinary experience, as this team prepares and shares dishes that are also works of art.
“We come together to create one of the best dining experiences here,” explained Head Chef Masaki Nishioka.
‘Kappo’ means to cut and to cook, and it all happens in front of the guests. Here, it also translates into a feast for all the senses. The chefs use smoke, fire and quivers of hand-forged Japanese knives to prepare an eight course tasting menu of masterpieces. The fare is ever changing, seasonal and innovative.
Everything is prepared front-and-center and fresh. From appetizers through dessert — the five chefs also satisfy the curiosity of their guests.
“The chefs love to talk with guests, we love to bring good atmosphere. We’re not just bringing the food, so it’s Japanese hospitality,” Chef Nishioka.
At the end of this two-and-a-half-hour meal — a ShoMon tradition. All the chefs and the servers gather to see their guests off.
Revealing the one ingredient that truly sets this restaurant apart.
“It’s the team,” Chef Nishioka said.
ShoMon Kappo Sushi is located at 2301 5th Ave #102 and is open from 5 to 10:30 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday.
