There is absolutely no way that shop bought lettuce will taste better than freshly picked lettuce from your own garden
We know how much BETTER freshly picked lettuce taste like comparing to shop bought lettuce. Anyone who has never tasted freshly picked lettuce is definitely missing out!

What kind of lettuce is that? I’m trying iceberg lettuce for the first time but planning to direct seed some leaf lettuce.

Yes what is your favorite lettuce to grow?? I want to grow lots of good lettuce this year, last year we did a butter crunch I believe was the name and loved it. I need more good easy to grow varieties
Does anyone else wonder what the hell they put on store bought lettuce to keep it not wilted through picking, packaging, distribution, store then your refrigerator?!?!? Fresh lettuce starts to wilt in a day or two then you have to dunk it in ice water. It really makes me wonder

Any tips on keeping it free of slugs? Someone told me to grow it under cheesecloth or something from the moment it sprouts but idk, that doesn’t seem that good of an idea….

We just planted some butter crunch and gourmet mix lettuces yesterday. Can’t wait for my free salad that cost several hundred dollars to prepare

i do korean bbq a lot so having fresh lettuce available for wraps is great. i think this fall i want to expand what kinds of lettuce i grow, to have more colors too. i can hardly wait!

I started about 60 seeds this year for my dad’s garden.
We have 3 teenage boys, and they have even learned to love lettuce this spring.
My wife and I were relaxing, and our oldest runs by and says, “Hey, going to Papas garden to get lettuce for the next couple of days…really want to make that salad with the olive junk dad covers his in. It’s actually good”
My wife smiles and raises her hand in silence for a high 5
