Any idea why my plants are yellowing? Soil is moist about 1-2inches between watering. Do I need to get shade cloth?

My guess with uniform yellowing like that is usually nitrogen deficiency

Zone 7 – Planted 4/11/2025 and have been watered daily after work. Completely new here so any help would be appreciated!
I know I have some cucumbers in the photos, but any help identifying would be great. Bought local and got my plants mixed up on the way home.
TIA!

I have luffas / indian ridge gourds also in same state. I am in zone 8 . We are thinking potential fungus in soil or some thing else? Growth is also not a pace that is expected.

Have you fertilized?
glengarden
This is nutrient deficiency symptom. Give it a dose of fertilizer and it will recover
J_cuzzi
Did you direct seed or transplant?
If direct seed, likely nitrogen deficiency.
If transplant, likely shock. Curcurbits don’t transplant well.

Fertilize – and at this point the soluble synthetic type. 10-10-10 would be my choice. Organic fertilizers would take too long to break down and your plant needs food now.

Add worm casting and fish fertilzer, make sure you mulch or drip water so you dont waste too much water

Nitrogen deficiency as it’s being robbed by wood chips (mulch) that the culprit.

Transplant shock

They look close together but what the heck. You can still get them to grow. I had 3 cashew trees sprout yesterday.

This looks like the soil might not be rich enough and the PH of the soil may not be right or it could be not enough nutes because of the soil.
yeahdixon
Lack nitrogen . That soil could be full of wood which absorbs nitrogen

Another reason for the deficiency is due to the number of plants you have growing in the bed. Squash have an open growing habit getting at least3-4 times the size they are now, you should thin at least one or two plants from every row. In a month you’ll have a jungle of squash if you don’t thin them

They’re way way way too close together. Also fertilize
Holiday_Interview377
That’s not soil. Thats unfinished compost mixed with sand. Did you just buy it from a landscape supply place? Municipal recycling place?
Sea_Phase_5294
water them more.

Does the soul contain much woodchips? I have bad experence with soil with much wood in it. It does seems to dry out fast and plants don’t like to grow in it.
