Meal is less than £2 a portion and really filling. For those in the UK, Sainsburys sell chicken liver for £1.75 per 400g and cooking bacon for £1 for 500g! The liver and half the bacon with frozen mixed veg and has done 4 generous portions.
I'm adjusting to gluten free life after celiacs diagnosis and can't afford to keep buying the overpriced GF stuff so I'm going naturally gluten free. Plus this has the bonus of helping to get my iron levels back up.

10/10 for looks, taste, nutrition and economy! Kudos!

I fried 250g of the cooking bacon, then added the 400g chicken liver, mixed herbs, garlic powder and black pepper. Fried the chicken livers off then added the frozen veg and the handful of mushrooms. Added some chicken stock and a bit of Worcestershire sauce and thickened with Bisto.

Blended chicken livers in meatballs is my special meatball trick.

I’m not one for organ meat but this looks good.

I’m a big fan of chicken livers. Your plate looks great. Well done!

I prefer chicken hearts, they are also typically good value for the price.

Also you gain the chicken’s power and soul.

Kenji uses em blended in some of his red sauces. Great umami flavor if you blend it very fine and cook right into a sauce. Dissolves like anchovies.

I’m a big fan of chicken liver. Lambs liver too. My mum always used to say pigs liver was too bitter and strong so I didn’t try it until a few years ago. I found it delicious. I don’t know if something has changed since her day or if she once had a bad batch and never went for it again. Liver is pretty cheap too.

    Your meal looks fantastic Super-Fink.

There’s a lot of iron in organ meats too. Now I want some

I remember years ago when I was younger and I was staying with an aunt in Florida she was cooking up some kidneys and it wasn’t really smelling all that great I really thought I was going to starve for dinner that night. I really can’t describe it but I just smelled like what she was cooking was something that a witch’s brew would smell like and I was really nervous but I was taught to always at least try something once to make sure you don’t like it and I ended up having seconds! The flavor was really delicious and balanced! I haven’t tried my hand at cooking it though cuz I’m always scared that I’m going to mess up and it’s just going to be too gross to eat.

I’m not too fond of chicken livers, but I do like to make chili or curries from chicken hearts.
Just need to chop them up a bit so they don’t look like hearts while I’m eating then, or I get a bit squeemish

The best way to eat chicken liver is pan fried in EVOO, then diced into a spicy brown curry sauce, over rice. You can’t even taste it.

I LOOOOOVE chicken livers! My mom made the best fried chicken livers. Once when she had just come home from the hospital, her appetite wasn’t improving, but she thought she could enjoy some chicken livers. I fried a batch for her and I was so happy she could enjoy them 🥰
