I picked up a Joe from eBay for £450 (owner had upgraded to a Big Joe and just wanted it gone). Got it home, cleaning it up and noticed the crack in the old style firebox.
How much is that likely to affect the heat retention? I’ve seen people say here that it’s minimal, but the pictures often associated with such comments have smaller cracks than this.
Given that it’s 2nd hand I assume I can’t get a replacement firebox through KJ either? Buying all the parts for an AMP firebox would almost cost the same as what I paid for the whole thing

It’s probably not a huge deal, but I would honestly just buy a new ring if you can

It won’t impact heat retention until full failure. There are parts available. The new version comes in sections so they don’t have to ship a whole firebox when only a small section broke. Also, they seem to be more reliable.
