I've been growing these tomatoes since the start of March, and I don't think the weather's going to be good enough to plant them out for two weeks where I live.

They look like they're getting a bit bushy and perhaps a bit too big for their pots. Are they going to be alright in there for the next fortnight, or do I need to pot them up?

The first two pics are Alicante tomatoes and the second two are beefsteak/tumbling toms.

Probably root bound. Pop off a pot and have a look.

If they’re still indoors for two weeks I’d say it’s definitely worth moving them to larger containers, that’s a lot of time. I know you said the weather might not be great but if it were me I’d try to plant these directly into where they’re gonna be long term. Really depends what type of weather we’re talking

I’d remove the seed leaves and put some more dirt right around the stem, so the plant would put the energy to grow new roots there. My tomatoes look very similar to yours, they’ll have to stay inside for another month and that’s exactly my plan.

Get an oscillating fan on those guys and you should be fine. They definitely need lots of wind stress right now

In an ideal sense, yes, these are getting to the point where they “need” up potting…but that being said, I saved 6 verrrrrryyy leggy, free Walmart throwaways that were only grown in a 1″ starter cell, and got to about 1′-1.5′ tall. Buried them very deep, only keeping the top 2 sets of leaves, and they took off. Tomatoes are very resilient in my experience. As long as you keep up the water needs for the plant, it will probably end up fine. Like the others have said though,-if you want to do it properly- is if you’re more than 2 weeks out from planting it, get them in something bigger, clipping down a couple leaf sets and planting deeply. If you are within that 2 week time frame, it’s time to start thinking about the hardening off schedule.
