My husband got himself a grill last week. He never grilled before besides hotdogs in high school. He has been trying different stuff and all have been great. Tonight he tried steak! He cooked it medium well and said it was delicious! How does it look? I hate steak and i am almost 9 months pregnant so I am not a good judge on taste right now 😂

I’d be thrilled if I was your guest & you sat this steak down in front of me! Good job!

    Looks good enough for me🩷🩷🥩😃🩷

I don’t think I’ve ever sat down and eat just steak. If I’m making a steak I’m going to be having a potato or rice or even pasta.

you have to grab all the juiced on the steak before the plate does.

To be fair, at medium well, he also hates steak but he doesn’t realize it.

What the fuck is the deal with paper plates in this sub

It is absolutely incredible to me how many people use paper plates.

That’s how you eat steak! Not cutting it into strips and laying it out on the plate. He is on the right track.

Nothing like eating something delicious you made yourself! My cooking journey started in a similar way and now it’s one of my favorite hobbies

Everything about this post is crazy to me. The plates. The Silverware. The medium well. The NEVER COOKING STEAK BEFORE! What?! That’s wild to me!
But all in all good job. Hope he enjoyed it! And good luck with your delivery!! Congrats on the baby!!!

Decent but don’t eat a steak on a paper plate. That’s a no no.

Is it really that common for Americans to use paper plates? I understand if youre having a big BBQ but for a normal dinner seems wild

How do guys get to be in their mid 20’s before cooking a steak?

My bad. It was a joke. No I’ll will. I’ll delete.

I agree, it looks like a decent medium/medium well. Great color on the outside. He’s a natural.

What kind of steak did he start with? Where did he get it? Maybe it’s the angle in the photo, but the thickness looks a bit uneven to me. If you haven’t found a butcher you trust yet, it’s worth doing a little shopping around! Running a grill is a relatively big production. Start with good meat if you can!

One other thing, you can get smoking wood chips at places that carry grilling stuff. You can throw a handful onto the fire, or if it’s gas just a couple of larger chips in a corner of the grill away from the food. It makes a huge difference. He may want to try a few types and figure out what kind of smoke he likes! Cherry wood is my favorite!

I hope he keeps at it. Grilling and barbecue are a lot of fun.

  16. This sub will become the sub about not using paper plates and /r/nopaperplates will become the new steak subreddit.

Once he learns reverse sear, his life will change forever

It looks excellent for a medium well steak. I’m more of a medium rare guy, but I’ll bet that steak was delicious. Cook them how you like them!
