  1. Super Hakka (Pharmacy & Lawrence)

Get the veggie pakora, with extra dipping sauce!

  2. Empty_Antelope_6039

Hakka Bistro, although it’s take-out only not a restaurant.

  3. Zeekyfromtheblock

Faleys is a family favourite for us in etobicoke.

  4. Chung Moi Kennedy and Eglinton. I am obsessed with their Won Ton soup

  5. youngfierywoman

Hakka Legend, but specifically the Markham location. It is a chain, but the original location is still the best!

  6. LankyYogurt7737

Bawara on Bloor is really nice, it’s Indian and Hakka

Bawara at Roncesvalles/Bloor. Whenever I eat there, I dream of their Manchurian momos as I fall asleep from my Hakka food baby. They don’t skimp on ingredients, they don’t shy from spice (if you want it), and it’s never oily.

GOlden Joy! Its tucked away in Rexdale but its really good and family run/owned.

  11. benchomacha

Chung Moi. Chilli chicken house is also decent.

  12. a_fighting_spirit

Hakka n’ Jerk on Gerrard, but there’s no seating room so only for takeout.

  13. Crazy timing on this post we’ve have been planning all week to pick up Federicks tonight for the last night of Couchella

  14. oryx_orange

Not Toronto but Mela Kitchen in Mississauga (Clarkson) is outstanding.

  15. Oof I really miss Toronto Hakka Chinese.. We don’t have anything remotely as good in Montréal.

  16. PDMRepInterest

Kim Kim on Kennedy just north of Lawrence

  17. throwaway1070now

Please rank: Chili Chicken, Chung Moi, Federicks, #4??

  18. Danforth Dragon by donlands, great chili chicken, manchurian chicken, hakka chow mein.

  19. calvin1408

I’m Hakka, only places I go to is fedricks and Hakka legend

  20. China Garden by the Air Port is great. Especially the dry Chili Chicken and Shrimp Pakoras.

  21. Shot_Firefighter5156

China garden airport and Dixie is by far the best chilli chicken dry I’ve had in the city

  22. Inevitable_Pay6766

    Yue Tung – Downtown
    Chili Chicken House – Mississauga

  23. Finally, I can answer!

Golden Asian at Kipling and Rexdale. I’ve been going there for more than a decade now and the food is still incredible. I’ve been to several other Hakka places in the GTA, this tops them all. Go to dishes: Bombay chicken, Manchurian chicken and Chili chicken.

  24. ZookeepergameWest975

    Kim Kims
    Eddie’s Wok and Roll

Hakka No 1 at Lawrence and Keele for their chicken pakoras

There are multiple kind of Hakka restaurants in scale of tending more Chinese to tending more Indian.

Fredricks and Lin Garden tend more towards Chinese style.
Urban Hakka, Hakka Khaazana are more towards Nepali style.

Royal Jasmine in Mississauga is more towards Indian style.

All of the above are my favorite,

Hakka food is one of my comfort food which I typically tend to eat once or twice a week

  26. BestBlueChocolate

I find Hakka Gardens best with close 2nd to Urban Hakka. Lots of good ideas mentioned here for several places I haven’t tried… and I’m making notes so thank you!

One of my absolute favourite places was Spadina Gardens, which closed many years ago. They had the most amazing curry shrimp with broccoli, a perfect combination of the Indian and the Chinese.

Regarding these restaurants that have been recommended, are any of them particularly good at vegetarian dishes? (most of the recommendations here seem to be for seafood or meat)

  27. Hot Wok at Progress and Kennedy is my favourite spot hands down.

  28. toxicsuppression

Eddie’s wok n roll but it’s in Missisauga . Made by Indo Chinese chefs halal too. Yueh tung in downtown Toronto but they aren’t halal and use cooking wine in their dishes.

  29. ForeverTricky4821

Hakka Spice! A little spot near Mississauga/Oakville and the food is phenomenal and extremely consistent- I recommend their chicken 65 and garlic beef!

  30. My favorite is in Sauga – Chili Chicken House, at the plaza next to the Erindale Go station.
