First time growing kale! Not sure what kind as I accidentally discarded the seed package. Does this look ready to harvest?

You can harvest kale any time, it’s always edible. I usually just pull a few leaves off when I need some and let the plant keep growing all year long.

You can, but it’s early. It’ll get a lot bigger.

the bigger it gets, the more bitter it is. Harvest young, harvest often, harvest longer.

I read a study once that to maximize your yields, you should leave 5 leaves on the plant – works for greens in general. Pick the oldest (outside) leaves first. Usually in 2 weeks they will look like you never picked them.

Yes. Just pick off the big leaves and let the rest keep growing

It’s a biannual so it will grow spring, summer, fall, winter, and then go to flower the following spring, when you need to replant. If you plant in fall, it will also bolt in spring. So be ready to replant. Leave the top leaves growing and harvest as it grows. Kale is great! I like it best young, and my fall crop is the tastiest!

Yup, definitely ready! I like my kale this size, not too big and not too small.
