One of the best ways to spend a warm summers evening is dining on some great food surrounded by nature and the outdoors.

The season for al fresco dining is fast approaching in Suffolk, with summer just around the corner.

Ahead of the warmer weather, the Good Food Guide named The Anchor in Walberswick as one of the UK’s best restaurants for al fresco dining.

But it is not the only top spot in the county – here are five more you should visit this summer.

1. The Secret Garden

Despite having secret in its name, the cafe and restaurant has been serving up homemade dishes for the past two decades.

It is open for breakfast and lunch throughout the week, with a dinner service on Fridays and Saturdays.

2. The Forge Kitchen

Located just a short walk from the Ipswich Waterfront, the Forge Kitchen has an outdoor roof terrace where guests can look out over the town.

The food menu has a range of burgers and butchers blocks, while the business also specialises in steampunk-inspired cocktails.

3. The Butt and Oyster

Visitors to the waterfront pub on the Shotley Peninsula can view a panorama of the River Orwell.

Its menu serves a range of pub classics as well as various seafood dishes such as a seafood platter.

4. The Brudenell Hotel

The Brudenell Hotel recently unveiled its new menu for spring with highlights such as Cromer crab thermidor, spring vegetable and wild garlic pesto risotto, and salted caramel brownie Basque-style cheesecake.

The hotel is located right on the beach in Aldeburgh.

5. Folk

Folk has previously been named one of the best UK brunch spots (Image: Folk Cafe)Where: Fornham Business Court, The Drift, Fornham St Martin, Bury Saint Edmunds IP31 1SL

The west Suffolk cafe has indoor and outdoor seating and underwent a refurbishment to provide even more space.

All day fry-ups, soups, sandwiches and salads make up the menu.
