Help me settle a debate. Is this steak medium rare or rare? Wait staff and manager at Flemmings in downtown LA all said this is medium rare

Rare for sure. Magenta over pink and that liquidy glisten = rare

Its definitely rare. And usually with restaurants if you ask for “rare” what you really are gonna get is a medium rare or medium. Its strange that they would actually undercook it to what you requested

At my steakhouse which is a bit nicer then Flemmings would say that is rare and immediately bring it up to Temp to a med rare (red center). This is literally red throughout without even a touch of pink. We never argue unless they don’t know what they asked for. Our wait staff always asks, “what color are you looking for? To avoid this issue. Everyone has a slightly different opinion.

Rarer side of rare. The center strip is about right for rare but the way I usually think about it the strip should be like half the steak thickness. When you get to almost no middle strip and all pink its medium rare. Then some thin tan bands around the edges is medium. And after that its just ruined in my opinion.

rare, some idiot forgot to take the stake out of the freezer and they are trying to hide that they charged 77 dollars for a steak that was frozen. Shit restaurant.

This looks like a cow with a mild sunburn

  7. Borderline bleu. I can enjoy a rare steak just as much as a medium-rare steak, and this one is too rare even for me.

Last time my family and I went to Flemmings, my “medium-rare” steak came out rare, and my mom’s came out borderline raw.

For a restaurant that presents itself as a premium steakhouse, Flemmings has no idea how to properly cook steaks.

Very rare, just about blue, some would even say a vet could still save it.
