I am growing some scotch bonnet plants from seed and they’ve started getting these blackened edges on some of the leaves. Anyone have any experience with this? Not sure if it’s too much sun too fast, a watering issue, or a nutrient issue.

Might want to get them out of those recyclable containers, they could be influencing whatever issue this is. Natural coloring from sun too quickly would be showing stress colors on the upper leaves as well, or would show as tan burn marks on the leaves in scorching cases.

“sunburn” it’s not ideal obviously but it’s nearly irrelevant at this point. New growth is looking fine. Those affected leaves will fall off in the next few days, you can trim them off (I trim them off) if you want but it’s not necessary to do so. You can see the difference between sunburned or scalded and the naturally darker leaves containing more anthocyanin like in the picture.

its form of uv protection that pepper plants make afaik.

if it’s really damaged, the leaves will look totally burned and white.
