NEWTOWN, PA — The fast-casual Mediterranean restaurant chain CAVA is coming to Newtown, Patch has learned.

CAVA appeared before the Newtown Township Planning Commission earlier this month seeking conditional approval to open at the Village at Newtown Shopping Center. An exact opening date has not been set.

The new CAVA, offering customizable Mediterranean bowls and pitas, will be located at the former MOD Pizza storefront off of West Road and between Crumbl Cookies and Chipotle.

CAVA is best known for its colorful Mediterranean-inspired bowls, pitas, dips, spreads, and dressings.

Pending final approval from the Newtown Township Board of Supervisors, this will be CAVA’s first location in Bucks County and its 10th in Pennsylvania. Its other locations are in Collegeville, Newtown Square, Glen Mills, Lancaster, Montgomeryville, Plymouth Meeting, Rittenhouse, Ardmore and Temple University.

The chain was launched in 2006 by first-generation Greek Americans in Maryland. In 2018, CAVA Group bought the Zoe’s Kitchen chain, becoming the largest Mediterranean restaurant operator in the U.S. with more than 350 locations.

According to its website, CAVA’s inspiration is rooted in the entire Mediterranean meal experience, “notably that feeling-so-cared-for genuine expression of hospitality and warmth.”
