  1. (1) The tin – an impulse buy from the CCCP Market in Plano

    (2) The meal – I served the soup as part of the sardine pate comparison I put together the other day.

    (3) I don’t know why, because the label clearly says SOUP, but I expected this to be a little more tomatoey and thicker? Not a problem at all – the soup broth is DELICIOUS

    (4) The solids in the bottom of the can – big fillets of delicate sturgeon fish and lots of vegetables: mushrooms, potatoes, and olives

    (5) This soup with the tuna pates and bread made a satisfying meal

We have enjoyed every tin of sturgeon we have purchased from this brand at the CCCP Market, and this tin was no different. The soup is well-balanced between sour and savory, with large fillets of delicate sweet sturgeon and a pop of acid from the black and green olives.

It has a lot more flavor than I expected, given how thin the soup looked to me initially. I guys sim used to homemade ghoulash, which is more tomatoey and a little thicker. This soup was tangy, light, well-balanced and didn’t overwhelm or obscure the delicate sweetness of the sturgeon.

10/10 will buy this again – it would be great to serve at our Polish Vigilia on Christmas Eve!
