Aroma: A dark and earthy aroma of chocolate, tobacco, leather, and chocolate
Taste: Consisted of the aroma notes plus plum, black cherry, and blackberry, with a nice smoky undertone. Quite bold, with nice tannins and a crisp, fresh acidity
Finish: A super long finish echoing the black fruit notes that ended with chocolate
My Score: 92 points

It’s interesting that older Petrus almost invariably yields scores less than the price would suggest
I don’t find any non-professionals score interesting at all without any kind of explanation or pointing out what the wine lacks when given 92 points for a wine that retails for 2K eur.
I could take such review seriously, if:
1)coming from proven provenance
2)”difficult vintage/perhaps bottle variation” or any kind of explanation were written, clearly using expertise, explaining me that the wine lacks greatness, or personality, perhaps was exposed to too much oxygen, etc, etc, etc
When both these come together, probably I would not list such wine where I work, but I would never be afford such a bottle anyway. Or wouldn’t buy it anyway.
A 92 points at first-growth level and above is horrible, when I think about 92 pts I see unclassified Médoc in this league of wines, or lesser-known classified Médoc for 100 euro or so, which are quite nice but nothing special or outstanding, I would be just happy with my money spent there.
My question is, as a seasoned, sarcastic hungarian wine expert:
OP, what wines did you compare this Petrus to, coming out w the 92 points conclusion?
Edit: I guess you checked other reviews online and conformed.
