  1. Our brother took sister and me to Africa in November. During our safari he surprised us with hot air balloon ride. Wow wow wow. At the end of the ride we had a mango/champagne breakfast. I ordered the avocado toast. It was INCREDIBLE. Rustic toasted bread. Thick avocado with spices on top. And the side of potatoes were the best taters I’ve ever eaten. What an experience!

  2. Interesting. I never put garlic in mine. I'll have to try that. I put them in a bowl with bananas and tomatoes. They speed up the ripening.

I know you say you can’t bring yourself to pay for avocado toast but if you ever find yourself in Perth Western Australia I highly recommend going to Chu bakery and paying for their avocado toast (and other treats). I left Perth 8 years ago and every time I make my own avocado toast I daydream about my weekend ritual of walking to that bakery and taking my toast over to the park across the road to sit in the morning sun. It’s not just avocado toast, it’s an experience.

  6. I usually put toum, Mediterranean garlic spread on the toast. Then mashed avocado, everything bagel topping and chaat masala and cilantro, and a heavy drizzle of evoo

  7. I love avocado toast too. I follow a similar recipe but I add a tablespoon of home made Italian dressing into the mixture and apply it to sour dough bread toast. Yum one of my favorites!! I only purchase firm green avocados.

  8. I recently discovered avocado toast and I love it! I top mine with spring mix greens, cherry tomato halves and some olive oil and balsamic glaze. I’m a fan. I wish we could be friends!

You lost me at the garlic addition, stayed on to be surprised at the EVOO! 😕😄 My recipe doesn't include garlic, butter, processed oil, or salt– it's very simple: just mash the avocado a bit w lemon juice, then spread over toast, slice a little tomato on top (+ sometimes a little black pepper, but I don't want to mask or override the subtle favors of this dish). Please try it this way sometime! 🥑

  10. Avocados ripen in just a couple of days without putting them in a bag. I just leave them on my kitchen counter until they turn black and have the slightest give when I squeeze them slightly in the palm of my hand. Then I put them in a bowl and out them in the refrigerator. They last for at least 5 days without getting over ripe.

  12. My Italian husband grumbles about the prices of pasta dishes in restaurants. Pasta is very inexpensive and sauces are easy to make. $25.
