It’s what’s inside that counts.

No problem. I did after my set ours on fire

Just badly fingerpaint over it and say your kids did it. People will think its charming.

Seems like a high end brand so the quality is probably there but most importantly they have an easy way to buy parts. https://www.crownverity.com/store/parts

I’ve gotten good results polishing stainless exhaust systems with Mother’s; its a brand of metal polish you find at an auto parts store

That’s a Crown Verity grill. Yes you can pretty it up. It’s the only grill that I know of that can be power washed. Open the lid and spray a whole can of Easy Off. It won’t hurt it as there are no delicate parts. Let it sit and power wash. Once the inside is clean, inspect to see if you need obvious part replacements. Hook the regulator up to a fresh full tank. Open the roll top. Turn on the gas. Stick a lighter or torch into the pilot hole and turn on the pilot knob. If that fires up, try turning on the burners one at a time. It should get up over 500 degrees within a minute or so with the lid closed. You might need to change a deflector plate or burner if it has been abused. Crown Verity is an easy call or visit for replacement parts and they will be very helpful to get up and running. Now for the ascetics of the outside. Who ever used this grill got it way too hot and scorched the lid which is easy to do on a commercial grill. Sometimes the gold burnt discolouring comes out sometimes not. I would start with Bar Keepers Friend soft cream (Lowes). Wipe with the grain which is sideways on that roll top. Follow up with a fresh micro fibre cloth and windex. This method will really clean up the grill sides, legs and base but maybe not so much on the dome. You can step up the cleaning with Bar Keepers powder but be careful as it can etch if you wipe in the wrong direction. From your picture it looks like you have a 36” or 48” mobile Crown Verity. Cost about $4500 to $6000 but I haven’t bought one in a very long time. I personally have a variety of three at the moment that are over 20 years old. This grill is worth every bit of effort to restore. Too bad an inexperienced rookie had to scorch the roll top. Oh, for the grates, I spray with Easy Off and stick them in a big garbage bag overnight. Boom just like new. Hopefully your roll top cleans up. I think replacement is around $500-$1000 or it used to be.
