I'm taking my level 2 exam tomorrow. I'm pretty confident I'm going to pass, I've been in the industry for a while now and a majority of the material I already knew pretty well. Studying for the exam has shown me where some gaps in my knowledge lie though. I've put in a lot of hours studying, determined to pass with distinction. Final bit of good luck before hand, bottle of Chenin Blanc, my personal favorite white varietal and factually the best white varietal, and a beer. My thought here is that if it takes a lot of cheap beer to make good wine, then a bit of good beer will make great exam scores.

And obviously the tasting notes, disclaimer I’m exhausted. Here we go:
Another kickass Chenin Blanc from the absolute superstar Arnaud Lambert. Delicious? Check. Acidic? Enough so to rip off my enamel. Minerality? I thought I was chewing on rocks for a moment. Autolysis? I’m now crying being reminded that celiac disease has doomed me to only ever taste fresh baguette through the vague notion of it’s beautiful taste in a glass of wine. 11/10 would sell my soul for a case of this wine.

I just had a 2019 clos de midi (basically the same wine but now the vineyard has a road going through it so it’s just midi) from arnaud lambert and boy does it punch above its weight.

Good luck on your exam. Mine will be in about a month. My only experience was WSET 1 (honestly started only knowing “red” and “white.”)

So I’m studying a lot more than you. I am not good at memorizing and this is level seems very focused on memorizing. I’ve been reading about climate and location (lots of maps!) and techniques outside the textbook. Having context makes it much easier for me to remember things.

Let me know how your exam went!

i just got my passing results for level 3 a couple weeks back! all the luck to you! i got to say, i did fail my theory exam on the first go, but pass with distinction for the tasting (who would’ve thought), but i did pass with merit on my theory the second attempt.
chenin factually the best white variety? riesling has just entered the chat and chardonnay would like a world as well.
    all the best for tomorrow
