MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) -A Madison chef is bringing his Midwest flare to TV’s newest high-pressure cooking competition.
Jake Lawler, Vintage Brewing Company executive chef, will be making his television debut on “Yes, Chef!” Monday, April 28.
Lawler is one of 12 chefs, battling for a cash prize of $250,000. The scoop is that each chef was nominated by someone close to them because of a distinct pattern of behavior.
“My flaw is that I definitely that I get a little angry in the heat of the moment,” laughed Lawler. “Just working on being able to communicate effectively when things go south in the kitchen.”

The Madison chef was nominated by his front-of-house manager at Vintage. “I wasn’t surprised by the nomination he’s seen the good the bad an the ugly,” he started. “Was I little upset going, maybe, but coming home I’m just grateful.”
As the only chef from Wisconsin, Lawler said he surely brings the Badger State spirit to his demeanor and cooking.
“There’s a couple dishes that really say Wisconsin,” Lawler teased. “Ope sorry I’m right behind you, you know or something like that. You’ll definitely see that Wisconsin accent come out a little bit.
