Dad got me one for my birthday. Plan to test it out tonight. Was kind of a random purchase and i don’t know much about the grill besides charcoal and ceramic.

Any tips on first use? is there any break in period or heat cycling? I’m used to the cheap charcoal grills that rust out after a year.

Congrats! Bought mine about a year ago and have got a lot of use out of it. General thoughts:
    – the instructions should provide initial firing instructions. Keep an eye on the hinge screws because I think they can loosen and damage your lid.
    – don’t use lighter fluid
    – have a ash vacuum or the ash tool
    – get a cover for your setup
    – enjoy!

  2. Welcome! There’s really no break-in needed. Grab some steaks or burgers for the first time and enjoy.

There’s lots to learn and we all take different paths.

Some great advice in the previous comments! Since you already have experience with charcoal, I’m just going to add ‘be patient and enjoy!’ Let the egg come to desired temp and make sure the smoke has settled down. Look for a light bluish haze.

Tell your dad if he wants any more sons. I make a killer coloring book for Father’s Day.

All joking aside congrats and welcome to the community.

Enjoy! I ended up also buying a deck box, to store fuel and gadgets. Happy cooking!
