I get this bag of beef and broccoli teriyaki mix. It comes with about a cup of teriyaki sauce. Of which I maybe use about 3 tablespoons. The bag says it’s 870 cal, but if I subtract the majority of the sauce, then is there an estimate of how much I can subtract from that 870 cal?

    Two options:

Weigh the beef separate, and do calorie math, weigh the veggies separate and do calorie math, and then whatever is left is for sauce.

Look up a bottled teriyaki sauce (like VH) and assume calories based on that.

Neither are perfect but they are close enough it’s not a huge deal

3 tablespoons is 0.1875 cup. We can round that up to .2 cups for our purposes. Converted to a fraction that’s 1/5 of a cup.

    870 / 5 = 174 calories.

  3. Another thought: check the manufacturer website. Some give a more detailed breakdown of the dressings/sauces vs the rest of the kit.
