so I make my royal icing from scratch. As a matter of fact I use Judee's meringue powder to do so. I really like their quality and taste. I saw this and I'm tempted to try it out. I am afraid it will taste gross. has anyone tried this? I'll take suggestions and judgement if you think this is lazy lol.

Is it just meringue powder? Or is it a mix? I feel like it’s usually a waste of money to buy the mixes since you are paying extra for mostly powdered sugar.
I haven’t tried the specific brand. but out of the premade mixes that I have tried, looking at the ingredients list usually shows the same simple ingredients as the ones made from scratch. I feel like it’s cheaper and more effective to make your own mix in advance and store for when you need icing
So I haven’t tried the mix, but I have tried the meringue powder, and it turns out that it is actually a mix too, not just pure meringue powder. I couldn’t ever get it to form stiff peaks and thought I was terrible at baking. Then I switched to Genie’s Dream, have magical fluffy icing, and I’ve never looked back.
I inadvertently bought the mix once and used it. It’s really overpriced. I do use their meringue powder though.
It’s overpriced but convenient. I used it when I was just getting started and didn’t know how to work with merengue powder but wanted to work on my decorating skills. I haven’t used that brand but my experience (using Royal Satin brand) was that it wasn’t as opaque as making it homemade. Not sure if this is a brand thing or not. I enjoyed the flavor.
