Just saw this at a local HD, I've never had a pellet grill before but have been looking at trying it out. Is this as good a deal as it seems? Or are there better models/deals to be had? Thanks!

Traeger ain’t what it used to be, but this is a steal of a deal. Do it- you won’t regret it.

That’s a good deal, worst case you sell it used for $300

I just grabbed a used one in good shape for 1/3 of that. If you’re willing to clean one up, and you can find one in reasonably good shape, that could be a good thing to consider. Some people buy them and decide they don’t use them enough to warrant keeping them around.

My first smoker I got on Black Friday and it was a good way to test whether I’d use a smoker enough. Turns out, I smoke a good 200+ pounds of meat a year and it’s definitely worth it.

Just starting out with a pellet grill I would say this or a pit boss Lexington would be a good choice. If your looking for smoke flavor don’t buy this. This is cool for time crunches, making jerky, appetizers and dips. I smoked meat with an offset smoker for a couple years then decided I had to have a pellet grill as well and was highly disappointed the first pork shoulder I cooked because I was used to a true smoke flavor that penetrated all the way through a shoulder and the first one I put on the pellet grill was like I made it in the oven lol

  5. And stay away from Traeger pellets. They’re just overpriced and don’t burn well in my opinion. I use Bear Mountain, Cookin Pellets & Lumberjack.

Paid 800 for mine 7 years ago, same model still going strong! Ya I’d be all over that.

I feel like I made a mistake. I had been thinking about getting a pellet grill and was at Costco when they had a Traeger sales person there. Ended up with a Mesa 20 for $550 (with cover). HD and Ace both sell the Pro 22 for $500. Obviously the deal by OP is great but did I get fleeced?! I understand they had different control modules for the augers but I wouldn’t know which one’s better.
