I don’t bake that often, but this sub has inspired me to try more recipes. I was gifted a KitchenAid and wanted to test it so I made my first strawberry shortcake for a friend’s birthday! Overall, it turned out pretty good, but I did accidentally substitute cream cheese in the cake batter instead of sour cream. The cake still tasted wonderful and my friend was happy, but it was definitely more dense and a little sweeter than anticipated. 😅

This looks so good!!! I love me some summer time strawberry shortcake, but I can’t quit obsessing over those little yellow cake cup things you get at the store, idk what kind of cake that is but I’ve been looking for a copycat recipe for a few years now.

  4. I foresee you using sour cream in the next cake and not liking it as much 😅

It looks delicious. Question: what makes this cake “short”?

I love the messy design. It’s so aesthetically appealing and ugh I would devour it. How’s the taste?? I want some huhu

Sorry OP there’s something seriously wrong with that cake. I can give you a more detailed explanation if you send it to me for inspection.

    (Seriously looks so good!)

I don’t know, but strawberry shortcakes without frosting on top is so appealing to me! Must have tasted delicious despite the cream cheese!
