There is a certain type of tinned baked beans popular all over the British Ilse known as Heinz. You can find them in Canadian grocery stores but not here in the USA. They have a flavor all their own and are loved by all. This is my version of these beloved baked beans. And BTW…my husband can’t stop eating them! Full video and recipe to follow!

Hi, it’s me, Karen, the journey girl, coming to you today from up here in Back of the Beyond in Ferry County, Washington. And today it’s all about the beans. Now, back during World War II, Great Britain was highly rationed. Food was very difficult to come by and people really existed on tinned beans, specifically a certain kind of tin beans. and they were heated up and served over like hot buttered toast. Uh it caught on and today it had all these years later after World War II, people in Great Britain are still eating tinned green tinned baked beans. However, I was introduced to them when we lived in Germany and we traveled all over Europe for two years and every breakfast buffet in Europe had these particular tinned baked beans and I watching people get their bean get their scrambled eggs out and they put a couple spoons full of baked beans on top of them and I’m like h so I had to try it and I have been hooked on them ever since. The problem is this particular set kind of baked beans, which is Hines be beans, are not available in the US, at least as far as I can tell. You can get them in Canada, but not here. So, guess what? I make my own. So, stay tuned because I’ll be doing the full length video of my copycat version of these very popular baked beans.
