hey guys here’s a couple tricks that’ll help you when you’re growing tomatoes this year I like to prune my tomato plants up about six to8 inches up off the ground I have found this helps with blight it keeps the Tomato from getting super bushy it also helps the tomato plant Focus its energy upwards growing fruit next thing you can do is go ahead and trim your suckers you see the main trunk of the tomato plant and you see the branch going out that little guy in the middle is called a sucker suckers are easily pruned off they typically don’t produce fruit and a lot of times they Ste energy away from the branch that would actually produce the fruit so go ahead and prune those off and you’ll get a lot more fruit and lastly try to avoid watering the tomato plant leaves keep them dry and you’ll avoid funguses and mildew all right guys I hope that helps with your tomato growing this year and if you have any questions drop them down below

  1. Based on my experience, tomato suckers DO produce fruits. If you support plants sturdy enough, it'll do just fine like nature does.
I used tomato suckers for growing extra tomato plants- just put the suckers in a jar with water to root.

  2. Bro I left the suckers on & it 100% produces flowers then fruits… How can a Sucker not FRUIT but be able to grow into a WHOLE new tomato plant

  3. I could swear the suckers for my indeterminate tomatoes make tomatoes on the suckers. In the heat of summer in TX my tomatoes will suffer but I cut anting.off that looks sick and BOOM maybe only have a week or.two slow down them more.tomatoes on whatever branches are left and I always think some are the sucker branches.πŸ˜‚ I am going to check closer attention this year now that everyone is saying chop them.

  4. Great tips buddy , but the suckers do produce fruit and the trick is to leave maybe 3 or 4 for better harvest

  5. Thank you so much for this. I just transplanted my first tomato until raised garden bed yesterday. And I was wondering if I had done it right. Your tips will definitely come in handy thank you

  6. I've found that most of my fruit grows from the suckers. Every time someone tells me you're supposed to remove the suckers, I'm confused. The regular branch (in my experience) is just leaf.

  7. Suckers can produce fruit tho, minimal but it’s possible! I’ve rooted suckers and gotten 7 tomatoes off one so not a complete loss 😊
The summer was ending & I rooted one inside and had a few tomatoes for winter. Thanks for your video!!

  8. When you cut suckers, put them in the dirt, and you've now cloned the plant into a brand new producing tomato plant. If tomatoes are determinant, this can really really help your second crop of the season. If they're indeterminate and get tomatoes all season, then you can create your whole next crop for next year. Or give them away. Share your plants!

  9. I still do not understand why people trim them like that. I'd rather have a full bush of tomatoes than just a few large tomatoes. My tomato plants were huge last year because I let them grow as they intended to.
