My wife doesn’t like her food touching. I have been plating her dinner.
Its been a looooong time since I was in a kichen. This is just an appreciation post to make you guys laugh. Feel free to criticize if you want. I can go cry in my home refrigerator.

Personally at this point, I’d just shoot for small individual plates.

I used to be the same way, but I was like 5 years old. My mom used to serve my food on plastic plates with dividers. Get your wife some of those, or a cafeteria tray. Maybe some sippy cups too.

She must really hate burritos then.

I can’t recall exactly when I grew out of needing to keep foods isolated on the plate but do remember it felt liberating.

Nice arugula hair. If you ever get tired of creating the faces, you could always purchase school cafeteria trays or bento boxes.

I had a friend a long time ago who described herself as a “rigid food separatist.” I imagine this is what her plates looked like!

Reminds me of Monk.

My wife is similar. Basically eats off of side dishes and ramekins. Every dinner looks like we’re eating Korean BBQ.

I did this a lot. turns out im autistic lmao. I got better about it, but i still hate when wet food touches non wet food, or sauces from one food expand to other food that is not supposed to have said sauces. My food must keep to covid regulations, im afraid.

What happens when you guys go to a restaurant and the dish is properly composed?

That’s hilarious and amazing. I’m not a fan of food touching but I do all the cooking– i think I really need to work on the plating lol

My wife is autistic and likes her food separated also. She will also eat one thing at a time. She won’t have a bite of side A and then side B. Once all of one thing is gone she moves onto the next.
pereira2088
get her one of those children plates with dividers.

All I see is food touching each other!

I don’t like my food touching, generally speaking, so depending on the situation I just plate each item as I eat.
It’s not that I won’t eat it if it touches, it’s just that I don’t particularly enjoy my pasta tasting like chicken drips or mashed potatoes becaming a sauce to a steak.

I have a cousin I don’t talk to anymore and he doesn’t like his food touching. It’s a sensory thing for him and he’ll only eat certain foods as well

British people cuisine really stresses me out sometimes.

I appreciate that you take into consideration something she does and instead of trying to get her to change it or be aggravated by it, you make your own fun out of it. You get to play with your food and she gets to eat the way she is most comfortable with.

My best friend hates her food touching. For her birthday one year I found nice [divided plates](https://a.co/d/1mJk82K) that don’t look like they’re for toddlers and she’s obsessed with them.

As a fellow “no food of different types touching if possible” person, who loves childish food presentations, these put a HUGE smile on my face. The smile may be made of link sausage with eyes made of eggs and a hashbrown nose.

everyone bashing on you…. honestly i think it shows how much you love your wife, and that youre a safe place for her, that she feels like she can ask this. these people are just butthurt and nihilistic. this is very sweet of you and im sure your wife feels seen.
ps, they make some really nice separated ceramic plates for adults. im autistic and love them for separating my food while keeping “dignity,” lol 🙂
