I cleared this small area of dirt i had last fall. All of the cherry tomatos that I had in a pot that fell off the vine or split last year I just threw them in the dirt. These came up and at first I thought they were my tomatos but when my mother came by she told me I had some really healthy weeds growing. I smelled the leaves and I fear that she's right and I've wasted the last month 🥲.long island new york

Seems to be mugwort. Not dumb, we live and learn ❤️

Agreeing with mugwort – to help you with eradication you need to remove the rhizomes. They usually aren’t too deep. I find watering the ground a 1/2″ (or a full watering can or ya know with your heart) and waiting about 5-10min for it to soak in helps the most.

By far best tool is a pitchfork it goes directly under the roots and it all comes up as one big clump. Do yourself a favor and do not try and save the soil. If you miss a rhizome you’ll be swearing in a couple of days. Just toss the whole clump and don’t leave any pulled behind 👍
