-pork ribs
-brisket
-smoked ham muffuletta
-duck rillette with seasoned crackers
-pimento mac n cheese
Highlights:
The pork ribs were like candy and don't require teeth to eat. The muffuletta was phenomenal, bread was buttery and had a great chew and the ham was smoked perfectly. Mac n cheese was rich and creamy.
Lights:
The duck rillette was interesting as it's a cold cracker spread, pairs really well with the overly spiced crackers where together it makes a really balanced bite. Potato salad was decent just real wet and watch out for the whole peppercorns.
Low Lights: brisket was a bit dry but still fork tender. The fat on the bark was rendered really well so I imagine if i got moist instead of lean i would have like it more.
Final thoughts:
All the BBQ is heavy in cajun spices so if you don't like those big bold flavors then be careful. Having spent a lot of time in Louisiana I was able to handle it well but know that it could be a little much for people who aren't used to it. Will for sure be back to try the boudin and crawfish bread dressing. Had high expectations given their connection to Interstellar and the fact they opened up 1 block down from KG and they did not disappoint.
