Featuring an egg+egg white on toast, with arugula, microgreens and a slice of cheddar. The egg was fried in about 1.5 tsp avo oil.
I thought it’d be interesting to see the margin of error for this subreddit, compared to AI estimators and the true, weighed out calorie count. I’ll write the actual answer in the comments (no peeking!)

Id say around 450-550 (egg70, bread 160, cheddar 100, AvoOil 190, straw & arugula 20)
Saying you know the ‘actual’ calories is a bit of a misnomer though. You have a better estimation of the calories than we do, is a better way to put it. That might seem like a small difference but it’s impossible to have the exact calories, even when youve weighed each individual ingredient, and frankly, that is not even the goal of this sub
The goal of calorie counting isnt to learn how to count calories down to the exact last digit, but to learn how to portion meals based on the calorie averages of their ingredients.
So whether that sandwich was 450, 500, or 550, doesn’t really matter, so long as the person asking understands it isnt say, 300 or 1000, and can adjust their daily intake appropriately. The goal is to get better at general portion control using calorie estimation. Attempting to micro-assess each item is counterproductive for people new to this practice.
I say all this to emphasize that we want people learning healthy habits, not disordered eating. Im not saying your post did that, but be careful about Attempting to count down to the last calorie as its both impossible and damaging, and we dont want new people to the sub getting overwhelmed, intimidated, or worse, obsessed, with counting
That looks so good! Might have to mow this later lol. My final guess is 450-500 calories. Looks good!
It also had turkey ham, right? 500 kcal approx.
480
no but that looks DELICIOUS.
This is my actual answer without seeing the comment. I’m going with approximately 550 calories for the sandwich
EDIT: I over estimated cause I thought it said 1.5 tbsp of avo oil, not tsp
I’ve made something similar but way bigger and it was~700 cals so I’d estimate around 400
I’m gonna go 515 including the bread egg and cheese and everything else
390 🙂
I guessed 550 pure eyeball, I’ll take it! I usually guesstimate on the higher side of what I think because I find it works out better for me overall
400 was my guess!
