My Girlfriend is having a bad day so I baked some heart shaped choc chip cookies (or I tried least)
Gotta work on my shaping 😂I'm sure they'll taste good though. Won't see her reaction today because I'll be asleep by the time she gets home.

If you want a couple of cookie hacks, one of the ways you can shape cookies is to take a cookie cutter of the shape you want that’s either slightly bigger than the cookie or smaller, and use it while the cookie is fresh out of the oven. This only works while the sugar is still melted.
If the cookie cutter is bigger, gently scoot it into the cookie on all sides to impress the shape. This is usually used to make cookies perfectly round but simple shapes (like hearts) can work. Stars do not, unfortunately. At least not the ones I tried. I got starfish at best.
If the cookie cutter is smaller, press the cookie cutter into it as if you’re cutting out a cookie from the dough. The melted sugar should seal the ends to make it look natural after it cools. This is actually a technique for getting perfect edges on sugar cookies, especially if they melt and expand into a single sheet mass in the oven (my sister saved her Christmas cookies that way one year!) or lose their shape due to lift.
Either way, I’m sure she’ll love these cookies. I can tell you made them with care 🙂

If you want a proper-shaped cookie, you’re going to need to shape them with a cutter, and then freeze them solid, and *then* bake them. Once they’re in the oven it’s a race between the dry ingredients setting and the shortening melting (making the cookie spread out), and freezing it will help…Might not be enough with a really high-fat content cookie like choco-chip, but they’ll be closer to the shape you want.
