How’s the quality of Galbitang(Beef rip soup)in your country?
I heard that some restaurants make galbitang more delicious than Koreans one.

Australia. You get two pieces of galbi, three at best and it’s mostly bone. Broth tastes like they just used 오뚜기 사골곰탕. Usually costs about 30000won.

In my country it’s almost impossible to find an authentic Korean restaurant 😭

Haven’t been able to locate, most places only do spicy pork, short ribs, and ramyeon.

USA, NYC, Korea town in the city and Queens (Murray Hill, Flushing, Bayside). Very many spots that serve it, fancier places and canteen style restaurants with a scolding waitress usually of mom’s age. Delicious soup.

Best I’ve ever had is at Sun Nong Dan in the Los Angeles area. They provide so much galbi – and all the good parts instead of the bone with some tough meat hanging on (which I’ve had before). In NYC the best I had was at Gunbae in the Financial District. In the Seattle area I’ve tried many, but not one holds a candle to LA or NYC. I’ve stopped wasting my money.

A lot of top chefs and talented cooks move to the US cause they make way more money here. So chances are you’re gonna find some amazing, authentic Korean food in LA and NYC. With that being said, nothing beats glabitang from a tiny little shop run by an 아줌마 in some random alley. Sure it may not be as fancy but 탕 is all about soul.

There was a place in Garden Grove, CA that my wife loved called Yigah, they had the best Galbitang around us but they closed out of no where. The second closest place for us is Lee-Ga in LA. Now we’re sad.
