And that is why we don’t let kids run around in busy restaurants.
Ultimately the soup guy has the responsibility here. Been a cook for 20 years. Anytime I’m carrying something like this I triple check my path, might even have a spotter in front of me if it’s particularly heavy

God damn that’s like a Sunday at Red Lobster. I was bussing a tray of dirty dishes, kinda carrying it in front of me because it was heavy as hell, and suddenly some 6 year old boy rounds the corner and runs head first into my gut, never saw him coming. I stumbled and dropped the tray onto the bar top that was thankfully empty. Broken shit everywhere. Kid starts crying because of the broken shit all around him. I was happy the kids mom came up and snatched him up and took him right outside because I was about to punt the kid. Pretty sure he got his ass beat because she made him come back and apologize to me while he was still crying.
im concerned with the amount of people blaming this on the worker… even if he yelled who is to say the children would’ve listened… have you ever yelled at a kid before they don’t listen pretty often.
if you bring your young children to a restaurant where there will be hot elements regularly present ie hot pot, kbbq, sizzling platters THEY SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO RUN AROUND.
its for everyone’s safety but especially the children.
This looks like an insane situation to be carrying around boiling soup like that. Kids shouldn’t have been running for sure but this also looks incredibly stupid and risky for the restaurant
This reminded me of how I got through the super packed hallways in highchool fast enough to go smoke a joint on short breaks.
Empty mr noodle cup with paper seal flipped just a bit as open, full stride and no slowing down as I yelled “hot soup coming through”. When I got to kitchen work and this was being said daily I knew I was paying penance for sins to someone and I don’t even have a faith!

Unless this isn’t China, that’s not what’s happening in the video, hate to burst the bubble. (Maybe other countries do it differently, but I’d be surprised?)
You can see in the table there’s a recess, that’s a gas burner. The oil isn’t brought to your table boiling, it’s cold and you heat it at the table.
It’s entirely possible there’s some form of hotpot I’m not aware of, but I would be really surprised.

As a parent, Im disgusted by some other “parents” responses. It is your responsibility to manage your own kids, nobody else’s. If you raise them correctly they understand how they are expected to behave in certain situations. Also if your kids wont sit still to eat in a restaurant, its probably because you threw a tablet at them for entertainment, instead of taking them out to exercise during the day. Why does everyone understand the consequences of not walking your dog, but shit parents dont understand the same about their kids?
Keep your kids on a leash MFS.
Side note;
One time, after a long, busy service we saw a woman holding her child, probably no older than 2 years, get up and try and say thank you to the kitchen staff (open kitchen).
She was a few wine glasses in at that point, and as soon as she started to address us, she dropped her kid. Right. On. His. Head.
Yeah I won’t forget that one. We laughed and laughed during cleanup.
